Between 1985 and 2002 the retail price of petrol and
diesel increased by 365% and 308% respectively. Over the same period the
consumer price index increased by almost 500%.
The petrol price on 30 June 2002 was 18c/l (4%) above the
June 2001 price. The diesel price was 36,5c/l higher than the 2000 price. Price
